I believe so. Cruise isn't getting any younger, and it'd be nice if they could go out on a high note for it. I believe the next phase of Cruise's career would be better suited as a dramatic actor fully.

Pull a James Bond, as in, re-cast? That could happen. Paramount owns it. I could see them trying and failing to make a Mission Impossible TV series one of these days. Like Jack Reacher. If they have him retire, that could work. I want a sense of finality to it. Some way to make it feel like a proper end and not a "The End?" / It depends if we can convince Cruise to come back.

I was referring to what they did with Daniel Craig's James Bond, where they had him die.
