Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new faction of Transformers – the Maximals – to join them as allies in the existing battle for earth. Directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, the film arrives in theaters June 9, 2023.

Someplace, somewhere, I lost the plot for Transformers (so did Michael Bay). I don't believe I have seen any of the original mainline films after the second film and, believe me, that was enough. I did like the first film alright though (the one way back, now, almost 20 years ago!). That Bumblebee film was alright as well. Could be fun for the fans. I don't know how much you can really do with the Transformers though.

Same.

I've seen the first film and I actually remember it being alright. I believe I may've seen the second film, but I am not certain, it's all a blur. I haven't seen the Bumblebee film, but I was modestly interested in that.

I'm not a Transformers fan, but I know they aren't going anywhere anytime soon (though they've likely peaked). I'd prefer it (for the sake of the fans and myself) that they be good. Same with the Fast movies, etc.

I went and watched it a few days ago. So, everyone's right with what they say about the Transformers movies. They are loud, bloated, and they lose their way a lot. They're stupid, but not always "stupid fun," if that makes sense. This was an issue with Michael Bay, where he would try to make them grandiose and epic-scale, but not realize that the core concept is inherently goofy and absurd. This one has a little bit of that problem, but I feel it is a lot looser and more fun, a bit more akin to the original animated series in that regard. I liked it.

I wonder how it will do at the box-office when it is all said and finished.

*** spoilers

What does everyone think of the "twist" at the end of the film? Does the prospect of a crossover entice you? I can't personally see what they will really do.

I mean I guess it depends on how they handle it? They've done Marvel/Transformers crossovers in comics before.

That's a little different though, because at least Marvel characters can fly around, I am very curious about it myself.

I haven't seen the new film, but I am familiar with the after credit scene (which I almost don't consider a spoiler since it's a teaser for a sequel and not pertaining to the actual contents of the new movie). For me, I am surprised because G.I. Joe isn't very popular these days. Even the first couple live-actions made less than half of what Transformers made in its heyday, but Snake Eyes didn't even make a tenth of what the mid-level Transformers sequel Bumblebee did. Maybe that says something about how Paramount looks at Transformers these days.

I guess maybe they're hoping that a reboot will draw attention to a new line of toys? They seem to launch a new toy line right around when a new movie comes out. I don't think G.I. Joes has been popular with kids for a really long time. I don't know if toys are popular much with anyone any more, save collectors maybe.

I saw this recently. It was a decent movie. I thought the animals would have been cheesy but they weren't.
